Sentence Exercise for Story of Design

Observations / Interpretations / Goals / Strategies:

A1: What is the experience and/or quality that you value the most among all that you have observed on Tuz Gölü?

  •       On Tuz Golu, I observed the environment first, then I did observation for human acts what they do, where they walk, where they stop and what they are interested in. About environment, movement of sun, direction of the wind and all the vista of Tuz Golu, especially horizon.

A2: How do you understand the metaphor “grafting” as given in the project, especially in terms of the difference that it implies from simply “applying one quality from one context to another”? How do you attempt to reflect that difference in your design?

  •     I make connection between experiences which are acquired from two different areas in terms of their functions such as direction, scale, duration. Design also need architectural elements like columns or partition walls that I reflected on Tuz Golu.

A3: How do you understand the concept of diversity? How do you attempt to create a diversity of spatial experiences in your design?

  •      I understand the concept of diversity like that diversity is all differences on relations, create some concepts as differently. Diversity on the design is according to direction of sunlights, durations, movement, sitting, directions and locations on the ground.

A4: How do you understand the concept of multiplicity? How do you attempt to create a multiplicity of spatial experiences in your design?

  •       Multiplicity is getting much in terms of one spatial condition. I use different many scales; much than one main space, human acts and columns what they muliply with each others.

A5: How does your design strategy attempt to meet the goal of creating diversity and multiplicity of spatial experiences by grafting Göreme onto Tuz Gölü?

  1. The Scenario

B1:The scenario in this case is the organizational structure that the diverse and multiple spatial experiences relate to each other, in a decided order. What is the scenario that you are drafting –not a possible scenario; there are many possible ones that can all relate to your design strategy; what is the one, in detail, that you have decided upon and work with?

(As a general reminder for the scenarios; please keep in mind that certain concepts that your design strategies emphasize are not the only means of forming diverse and multiple spatial experiences. In addition to them, there are a number of other aspects that we had studied in the beginning of the semester, all of which are expected to be reflected in your designs. Two of such are the varieties of bodily experiences of movement and the varieties of scale.)

  •      According to scenerio, the design is breaking the physical direction to horizon but at the same time it is providing a strong visual relation with horizon thanks to multiplied and diversed architectural elements. For example; multiplied architectural elements direct human and diversed elements provides different experiences for human.
  1. Tectonics

C1: The term tectonics refers to the art and science of construction, and of human production in general; how we get to get this design into physical existence, in its material  and structural design decisions. Many of you still refer to your designs as “my model”. Please remember that this is Architectural Design I Studio; we are not designing models here. So: what is the tectonic approach in  your design, in relation to your design strategy and all related design ideas and applications?

  • I am using slope area, the flat area also some parts do not touch even the ground in the design on the topography of Tuz Golu. Columns and partition walls stand the design which I think for them as stone but some parts should be wood, less heavy then stone because of some shapes.
